Sr. Account Executive

Ascentis Corporation, a market leader in easy-to-use human resources software and online payroll services. Responsibilities:

  • Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales quota and business targets
  • Deliver corporate presentations and demonstrations via the web to mid and senior level business owners and executives

What are the requirements?

  • A minimum of 4 years of successful sales experience in a technology software company is required
  • Strong self starter with the desire and flexibility to operate in a fast-paced technology startup; open to creative business ideas; a natural-born leader and pioneer willing to explore new markets and ideas
  • Average size of deals closed for past 2 years >$50K
  • Met monthly, quarterly and annual quota objectives at least 3 out of last 4 years
  • Past experience with SaaS or on demand application software companies selling to mid and large accounts
  • Proven success in penetrating new markets and closing new business
  • Ability to build rapport, establishing trust and credibility through a consultative approach, and balance assertive sales follow-up
  • An understanding of HRIS, Payroll, and HCM solutions in a direct sales capacity is preferred
  • Fast learner who is results-driven with proven ability to sell and project a positive, professional attitude
  • Proven ability to increase deal size and accelerate the buying process

Payroll Product Manager

The product manager (PM) plays an integral role in ensuring that Ascentis Payroll supports the company's overall strategy and sales goals. The PM is responsible for leading product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle of Ascentis Payroll. In addition, the PM’s role includes supporting our sales efforts by providing a deep understanding of the payroll process, the Ascentis Payroll product, and an ability to create solutions that meet the needs of the prospect.

General Requirements:

  • 5+ years of previous product management experience in a technology company
  • 5+ years of experience working with payroll or payroll product
  • Self-starter; needs to be able to work independently
  • Well organized--able to track work items to completion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills so as to be able to work in a team oriented environment

Duties/Expectations:

The PM will team with development, sales and marketing, client Services, and operations to define, develop, market, sell and deliver Ascentis Payroll and the Ascentis value proposition.

Development: The PM is an active member of the payroll development team and helps deliver high quality and timely product releases that maintain targeted client satisfaction goals. Specific activities include:

  1. Gathering market, client, and IT infrastructure needs and defining the vision for Ascentis Payroll. Translating this vision into detailed requirements for future products with corresponding priority and business justification.
  2. Translate requirements into wireframes and user stories.
  3. Assist development with project management.
  4. Create and implement detailed product launch plans.
  5. Research and manage compliance issues.

Sales and Marketing: The PM will be an expert with respect to payroll and the Ascentis Payroll product to play an active supporting role in helping to drive sales. Specific activities include:

  1. Evangelizing and educating sales and marketing on new product features and benefits, highlighting competitive positioning to differentiate the product in the market.
  2. Providing first line support for detailed product questions from sales and marketing staff.
  3. Acting in sales engineer role in sales opportunities including assistance with product questions and developing solutions that meet client requirements.
  4. Providing product training and product information to sales and marketing staff.
  5. Assist senior management with developing and maintaining pricing and packaging strategies.
  6. Supporting marketing in the creation of product collateral, website content, and other promotional materials that require details on product functionality and benefits.
  7. Conduct ongoing competitive analysis to deliver detailed differentiation and positioning reviews for sales and marketing.

Client Services: The PM will engage with client services by conducting product training and will ensure that the voice of the client and our client services representatives is heard and understood by our development staff. Specific activities include:

  1. Educating client services on new product features and technical capabilities.
  2. Assisting with support escalations by ensuring that issue details and priority is properly understood by development.
  3. Engaging with client services to seek their input on product specifications and stack ranking activities

IT/Operations: The PM will work with the IT/operations staff to ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of Ascentis Payroll. Specific activities include:

Marketing Manager - Content Creation

This marketing person will serve as an industry and brand evangelist. Their focus will primarily be on producing and sourcing high-quality, and applicable content. Projects will include white papers (either written internally or managing a professional white paper writer), customer stories, press releases, articles for SEO, industry stories and news, and social media management (posting/monitoring). This person will need to have strong writing and interviewing skills and a solid understanding of social media as it relates to measurable business objectives. This person will need to solicit the cooperation of both internal product experts and the industry at-large to produce accurate and compelling copy for all collateral products. They will be responsible for creating (with collaboration) an annual editorial/messaging plan based on an understanding of industry cycles and ongoing regulatory issues. Based on this calendar, this position will create core content that can be passed over to the Content Delivery Director, who will then streamline and massage the core information to be used in multiple communication channels. This position will be responsible for providing content for the monthly marketing newsletters, and be heavily involved in trend monitoring … both in the industry in general, and with competitors.

All activities are heavily focused on lead generation and sales results.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Creating and executing a corporate social media plan

San Mateo Office

Sales Intern

We are seeking a few sales interns for Ascentis Corporation, an HR and Payroll SaaS company located in San Mateo, CA (with offices in Seattle and Sacramento). This is a ground level sales position for a recent grad or student who has an interest in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or related area, and for someone who has an interest in selling software technologies.

Responsibilities can include:

  • Cold/Soft/Warm calling to qualify leads (50-75 daily calls)
  • Setting up appointments and demo’s
  • Assisting with demos to prospective clients
  • Assisting with account management and follow up for prospective customers
  •  Lead generation (needs to be persistent and creative)
  • Research how decisions are made within the organization, what is the flow of information for HR and Payroll purchases
  • Initiate conversations with HR and Payroll C-Level and executive decision makers, identify and understand business needs and qualify inquiries and opportunities
  • Qualify through discovery and present introductory solution information to key decision makers and set appointments for sales staff
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to identify opportunities and create a pipeline through demand generation and targeted campaigns
  • Maintain lead records and activities through Salesforce
  •  Draft quotes and help with RFP’s for prospective customers

The sales intern will be mentored by Account Executives who have an average of 10+ years of software sales experience from top companies Oracle, SuccessFactors, and NetSuite.  

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Enrolled in undergraduate or post-graduate program focusing on Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, or equivalent experience
  • Cold calling experience with success in actual connects and the ability to qualify and schedule next steps (appt and/or demo) for sales team
  • Entrepreneurial in spirit – positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to build relationships effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

As a member of the Ascentis HR Client Services team, the Professional Services Consultant is responsible for delivering exceptional services in support of both new and established HRIS clientele. This individual’s main goal is to establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction while providing remote or onsite installation and implementation services as well as product training nationwide.

General Requirements:span>

  • Training and/or experience providing application support.
  • Working knowledge in computer/software technology, SQL Server, IIS and networking.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • The ability to gain product knowledge with minimal training.
  • Crystal Report experience is a plus.

Technical Support Engineer

As a member of the Ascentis HR Client Services team, the Technical Support Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional support to established HRIS clientele. This individual must possess superior analytical/technical trouble-shooting skills, along with a proactive, positive attitude. The team’s main goal is to respond to client incidents and requests, exceeding the expectations set by the current Service Level Agreements.

Payroll Client Services

The Client Services position is the liaison between Ascentis and the client and is responsible for supporting the clients on Ascentis Payroll as well as Self Service and some integration knowledge of Ascentis Human Resource and Self Service. Client Services (CS) is responsible for knowing their client’s setup thoroughly in order to answer the client’s questions and in order to make recommendations for more efficient processes.

General Requirements:

  • Experience in payroll environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of payroll taxes, multi-state a plus.
  • Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, active listening and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, priority setting and time management skills.
  • Ability to work on many clients and projects at the same time.l
  • Self Starter and ability to think “outside the box”.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to project a positive, diplomatic and professional service attitude.

Duties/Expectations:

Client Services:  Interacting and supporting clients via telephone and emails on a daily basis.  Resolving client concerns and problems related to payroll and system issues. 

When clients request making changes or additions to client setup and proposing possible solutions based on your knowledge of the system and your clients.  Knowing when a change would be part of services or would require a quote from sales.

Staying updated on payroll, self service, and human resource changes.  Updating clients on changes and being proactive by contacting clients that may be interested in the change or that have been waiting on the change.

Writing reports for clients.

Tax Amendments - Assisting clients with adjustments and amendments to prior quarters or years.

IT/Operations: CS will work with the IT/Operations staff to ensure that bank changes related to checks are setup, direct deposit, bank reconciliation, positive pay, and third party checks are setup and tested before installed.

Communicating client changes to schedules for transmission and check processing for any changes to client processing or off-cycle payrolls.

Development: Researching and testing system issues to determine if they are specific to the client or to the payroll system and communicating with development.

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

 

General Requirements:

  • 5-10 years experience in QA with proven track record and results
  • Self-starter; needs to be able to work independently

  • Able to make good judgments of priority based on customer impact
  • Experience with client-server applications as well as web-based applications
  • Experience with databases and SQL; ability to write SQL queries certainly helpful

Responsibilities:
