Ascentis HR V8.0.1 introduces Ascentis Manager Self-Service (MSS) and with that a new look for self-service. Employee Manager has increased functionality, including I-9 and W-4 compliance modifications, and resolutions to maintenance issues in previous versions. Click here to download the new version from the Ascentis Web site.
Available as an additional module, MSS offers full workflow capabilities that include the ability to define flexible, customizable approval processes while automating e-mail communications. Ascentis MSS features a new intuitive look and feel that enables managers to access data quickly and easily. Integrated with Ascentis HR’s role-based security, managers can access employees’ personal, employment, job, compensation, and leave information.
Stay in Compliance
In accordance with recent USCIS changes to the I-9 form, Ascentis HR v8.0.1 now offers the following citizenship choices: U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, Permanent Resident, Alien allowed to work, Other, Not Applicable. Additionally, HR Alerts now contain the most recent versions of the I-9 and W-4 forms so that new hires and employees required to submit a new W-4 are in compliance with 2010 regulations.
Enhanced Benefits Browsing
Employee Manager now features persistent search selections when viewing enrollment information. The benefit plan selection will persist when viewing different enrollment history records for any employee, allowing users to view an employee’s entire enrollment situation easily.

How long are Terminations included on Carrier Connect files?
Within the world of benefits, the expression “Termination” generally refers to the end of a benefit enrollment, for any reason. In order to report the end of coverage for an employee or dependent to your insurance carrier, the termination must be entered in to Ascents HR within 90 days of the Benefit End Date. If the termination is entered after 90 days, the enrollment will simply drop off the next file and the benefit end date will not be reported to the carrier.
If a termination is entered into Ascentis HR after the benefit end date, the enrollment change will be included on the file for 14 calendar days after the termination is entered.
If a termination is entered in to Ascentis HR prior to the benefit end date, the termination will be included on eligibility files until the benefit end date passes, and will then drop off of any future eligibility files.
How do I add new benefit plans to an existing connection?
Please contact the Ascentis Carrier Connect Maintenance Team (carrierconnect@ascentis.com) as soon as a new benefit is created in your Ascentis HR system. New benefit plans often require additional work by our technical analysts before they can be sent to the carrier. Please notify Ascentis as far in advance of the new plan’s scheduled “go live” date as possible.
